Standby Productions once again found themselves collaborating with Gold Jacks on their latest single, ‘Take It Back.’ Having recently signed to Manchester-based record label Scruff Of The Neck Records (scruffoftheneckrecords.com), the band were looking to promote a big media push with their latest release, meaning that creating an exciting and eye-catching film was essential.
Our directors met with the band to talk through and flesh out ideas (the key words being “dark,” “grungy” and “sexy”), before deciding on a highly stylised “look” for the film, splitting the running time between a band performance and story element. We matched the performance style to the most recent band photography (high contrast black and white), and decided on using strong, vibrant colours for the story side of the film, to help differentiate the two.
In post-production, we began the process of fusing the two elements together, weaving them in a way that flowed and felt natural. The finished film has been a massive hit, with unanimous praise from all corners, and has helped cap off what has been a fantastic single launch for the band. We can’t wait for our next collaboration together!
