Here’s our 4-steps to Cracking Covid-19 enabling Standby Productions to continue to make cracking films.

Step 1 – Social Distancing

The good news is, we are able to shoot and maintain social distancing throughout a production.

Any persons on set will be expected to comply with the 2 metre (6.5ft) gap.

The number of people allowed on set will be kept to a reduced minimum. Crew will be reminded at the beginning of each shoot of the importance of social distancing (on and off set).

Clients will be invited to live stream the shoot, should they wish to review shots and set up, without the risk of being there in person.

Using zoom lenses we can shoot from distance and we can record sound using a long boom.

Step 2 – Locations

Although many locations are closed, that doesn’t mean there’s no options. We’ve got a few places up our sleeve to make cracking films.

There are 3x Locations available to us as present:

  • Home Studio – we’re already created some cracking content from our home studio, creating a number of product films and some background plates for a corporate animation.
  • Hired Studio – Most studios have their own hygiene protocol in place and are ready for business.
  • Outdoors – The outdoors offers lots of space for social distancing and most locations are available now.

Step 3 – PPE

Use of PPE is very much a last resort, but we want the best for everyone involved, so all our PPE is in place for the crew and shoot attendees.

Our crew will arrive to set with their own face mask, disposable gloves and individual hand sanitiser.

We will provide a hand sanitiser station or wash station for everyone on set, with sanitiser and paper towels to dry your hands and for Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.

Step 4 – Assessing Risk

Prior to every shoot, we’re taking all the steps to ensure a safe shoot for everyone.

Standby Health Check – Every attendee to the shoot will be required to complete the Standby Health Checker to ensure they don’t have any symptoms of Covid-19. This document must be signed and agreed to by the attendee.

Risk Assessment – A Covid-19 Risk Assessment, inline with HSE guidance, will be carried out prior to every shoot. The results of the Assessment will be shared will all attendees and adhered to.

Scheduling – Taking steps to review shoot schedules including call & wrap times for individuals, staggering arrival and departure times and break times. Conference calls to be used instead of face to face pre-production meetings.

“Just wanted to drop you a line following on from last week’s shoot. I’m really pleased with the end product as usual, with no compromise on quality or creativity despite the social distancing measures in place during the shoot. At this challenging time I think it’s essential that businesses continue to communicate and I believe great videos can be a key part of this.

Hopefully it won’t be too long until we have something else for you to shoot.”
