……Well, sort of! Here is what Director Ashley had to say;

1/ So Ashley what do you do?
Tough one! I have been known at STANDBY to film and direct those moving image things (sometimes known as “talkies”) from time to time. I also do a lot of editing and general post-production work in the edit suite, as well as providing creative input, excessive coffee-drinking, and helping to fulfil the prerequisite beard quota – it’s an essential part of what helps STANDBY tick!

2/ You’re on a long haul flight and can only watch one film on repeat, what would you choose?
Blade Runner (The Final Cut) – I mean, Replicants, Unicorns and Spinners, what more do you need from a film!?

3/ You’re on a Road Trip down Route 66 and can only listen to one artist, who would it be?
Normally I’d say Radiohead for anything like this, but Sigur Rós would make for a pretty epic soundtrack to that journey!

4/ You’re on death row and can have any meal you want, what would this be and what would you wash it down with?
Most definitely a steak (of some sort), washed down with a ruby ale (of some sort). Very specific.

5/ Favourite ‘retro’ item you’d bring back from retirement?
It’s not really “retired” since it’s currently hooked up in my front room, but definitely the SNES – everyone should own one!

6/ Best place you’ve ever travelled to?
Ever since I first set foot in Edinburgh I’ve been in love with the city, there’s something a bit magical about it! Outside the UK? Probably Prague; it’s an amazing place to just aimlessly wander around for hours on end.

7/ Person who you’d most like to host at a dinner party?
Easy – it’d have to be director Francis Ford Coppola! I can’t even begin to imagine the stories he’d be able to share about life on set with the likes of Pacino, De Niro and, of course, Brando. Who better to talk films with than the master himself!?

8/ When you were young what career did you see yourself doing?
I was acting right through school and up to college, but then decided to jump onto the other side of the camera. I found there were less spotlights round that side, and giving direction is a lot more fun than taking it!!
