ActionCOACH provide mentorship and guidance to businesses around the globe, helping develop and implement new ways of working that supports companies in reaching their full potential.

They approached Standby for support on developing and creating a TV Commercial for a nationwide, Addressable TV advertising campaign.

ActionCOACH are a hugely successful, worldwide brand. Their brief was to develop a film that captured the rising problems of burn-out and stress that many small business owners feel and demonstrating how their services can help people regain a healthy work-life balance.


Our team held an in-house ‘creative’, where we deconstructed:

  • The requirements for a final film
  • The aims and objectives for ActionCOACH
  • The challenges and sticking points for their target audience
  • How the team at ActionCOACH can provide support for these issues

We then used this detailed breakdown to develop a film concept that would encapsulate the ethos of ActionCOACH and present their services in a way their target audience could identify with.

The approach we took was to develop a storyboard, featured above, detailing the life of a central character who has set up their own company. As time progresses they steadily begin working longer days, with rising stress levels, before reaching a breaking point and contacting ActionCOACH. The narrative would then switch to our central character spending time with their family, demonstrating the fundamental benefits ActionCOACH provide for their customers.


Following our concept proposal our production team developed a production schedule, detailing the schedules for filming, editing, set design, casting and equipment provision.

Filming took place across a day and a half, the first day taking place in an office space in Ancoats and the second, half-day of filming taking place a week later at Fletcher Moss, Didsbury. These two locations were vital in bringing to life the differences between the stress of work and the fulfilment of a healthy work-life balance.

Across a total of five days offline and three days online editing we worked closely with the ActionCOACH team to ensure what was captured resulted in a final film that looked premium, engaged their target audience and epitomised their brand.

Following delivery we then introduced ActionCOACH to our colleagues at Sky Adsmart, playing our part in developing a nationwide advertising campaign with custom end frames designed for different locations around the country.
