2016 has officially kicked off, with the STANDBY crew now in full swing! We’ve shaken off the post Christmas haze and are ready for everything that the year has to throw at us.
We’ve had some time to reflect on what the new year has to bring and we thought we’d share with you some of our personal resolutions for this year as well as what the new year will bring to STANDBY as a whole.
Let’s kick things off with Film Director Ashley;
“My personal new years goals involve, first and foremost, drinking less coffee! This is the one I’m least confident about attaining, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that I’ll be less of a caffeine-junkie in 2016, no matter how necessary I feel it may be…Beyond that I’m planning on filming more short films in my own time (bagging a BAFTA is on the bucket list), studying up more on screenwriting and also developing my skills working with actors. Now, where’d that coffee go..?”
It’s day four back in the studio and Ashley is only on his third coffee of the year, things are going well so far!
Next we chatted with Production Assistant Jack, who knew exactly what his resolutions for the new year were going to be;
“I have just two New Year’s resolutions this year, to save money and not to end up with any more pets – they’re not mutually exclusive.” – We can vouch that Jack is currently 2 budgie’s away from owning a Petting Zoo – good luck on your quest for no more pets Jack!
Here’s what Chloe had to say about her resolutions;
“This year i’d like to Travel more, I have an ever growing list of countries that I’m desperate to visit so i’m hoping to tick a couple off this year, i’d also like to take this opportunity to make a travel film and continue taking tonnes of photos. (I currently own a very neglected Flickr account so i’d like to rectify this). I’ve signed up to take part in the Great Manchester Run this year, on behalf of Beechwood Cancer Care so my resolution is to get out on more runs despite the British weather – unfortunately for me a Netflix documentary seems far more appealing than a run in the rain. Finally i’d like to improve my Spanish, I can get by at the moment but i’d like to become more fluent.”
Finally we get to Managing Director Simon and his thoughts for the New Year;
“This year I want to make my next wildlife film, filming has already begun for this and i’m really excited to release it later in the year. I’m also in the process of working on a new Skate film, which is where STANDBY began many years ago. I’d like to read and learn more in 2016, I can’t wait to see what the year has to offer.”
2016 is set to be a really exciting year for STANDBY, there’s a series of things that we’re really excited to launch starting with STANDBY Video Brochures. Video Brochures are an incredible way to get your film seen, they involve a physical brochure with a screen inside. You then upload a series of films to your mailer and send to anyone you like. It’s incredibly exciting technology that we can’t wait to roll out in the coming weeks – watch this space!
We’ve also recently invested in a brand new 360° camera, which we’re really keen to start integrating into our filmmaking and offering to clients. Providing a whole different way of viewing and interacting with film content, we plan to use the technology to stay at the forefront of revolutionising and delivering the best possible film content for our clients.
Finally, 2016 will see the official launch of STANDBY Box Office, something that we have been developing for a number of months now. We are able to monitor the statistics of your films to see how many people are viewing them, regions in which they are being viewed, which parts of the film are gaining the most engagement as well as a number of other insights to improve your overall ROI. We’ll be releasing further information about Box Office very soon.
We hope you enjoyed this blog, get in touch and let us know what you have planned for the new year. We can’t wait to get started. HAPPY NEW YEAR from STANDBY PRODUCTIONS!
