It’s what every marketer and business wants to achieve. The perfect corporate video. Is there such a thing?? We’ve given this a lot of thought and here’s what we have to say on the matter.

The term ‘corporate video’ causes a lot of people to cringe and is a term we avoid as it immediately makes us think of something like THIS! That’s why we personally prefer the title ‘company film’, making clear that it’s a film about your company without conjuring visions of terrible attempts at green screening, awkward pieces to camera and horrifically staged ‘acting’. Aside from that we bring quality and creativity to every single project we work on, no matter the subject.

However, simply labelling it slightly differently isn’t going to result in engaged viewers, so what do you need to consider?

>WHAT’S YOUR BUSINESS?

This might sound obvious, but the type of business can hugely impact the style of film that’s produced. Some companies opt to showcase their services through the use of animation like the one we produced for USEO – this is a great way of visualising something that is digital based. However, if the subject matter can be depicted with film, we’ll make it look awesome. Last year we got some stunning shots of the Westermost Rough Wind Farm for Dong Energy.

>LENGTH OF YOUR FILM?

The optimum length of a film is something that has been subject to a lot of re-evalution over the past few years. When STANDBY began we were producing films that were 3 – 4 minutes in length, now we advise clients that anything over 90seconds is too long. This is down to the increase in social media and fast shareable content. People’s attention span’s are shorter than ever. If you want your content to be watched you need to make it dynamic, quality, creative and to the point.

>MULTIPLE EDITS?

This is a great way to engage viewers quickly and encourage them to seek out further information. Often we’ll produce a series of short edits for social media which will push traffic to a clients website to view the full film. These short edits act as teaser-trailers to the main film or convey their own ‘campaign message’ with hashtags etc. Once a customer lands on a clients website they’re likely to spend longer onsite watching the film content, in-turn, increasing the webpage’s ‘stickiness’ (massively improving the SEO).

>ANALYTICS?

If you want proof that your film is working, you need stats and analytics. Tracking the analytics behind your film will allow you to see what’s working and what’s not.
