Running Dangerously 2018 is a project to raise awareness and funds for 3 charities. Former soldier Jordan Wylie will be running through 3 of the most dangerous countries in the world – Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Having previously worked together, Jordan approached Standby to create a promotional film to help raise funds for the project.
As well as developing plans for a longer form, 30 minute documentary about the project as a whole, Standby worked to shape and build a narrative around the reason’s for Jordan’s journey – his motivation for the expedition and what he hoped would come from this. Traveling down south to Andover, Standby captured footage of Jordan training with his PT and former colleague Rick Webb, as well as spectacular tank footage at a nearby training post.
Pulling in both Jordan’s experiences and reasons for the project, his motivations, sponsors and also Rick’s place in the overall story, Standby crafted an epic 5 minute film that deftly takes you through the project and it’s many complexities, whilst maintaining audience engagement throughout. With Jordan having just undertaken his first run in Somalia, this project is far from over..
